Located off the coast of Italy, Croatia gives you a more affordable, less crowded experience of the Mediterranean. Gaze at the Roman architecture of Diocletian’s Palace and the Cathedral of St. Domnius. Explore the forest, lakes, and waterfalls of Plitvice Lakes National Park. Have a laugh and a cry at the quirky Museum of Broken Relationships in Zagreb. Visit the island of Brac for white sand beaches and windsurfing. Visit the island of Korcula to see medieval architecture such as St. Mark’s Cathedral. No matter what you do, Croatia is a wonderful summer destination!
2. French Riviera
June’s warm weather is the perfect time to visit the South of France. June 21 marks Fête de la Musique, or World Music Day! Celebrate with dancing and music all day long in Nice. While you’re in town, visit the Musée Matisse and the Russian Orthodox Cathedral. Gaze at artwork in Antibes at the Musée Picasso, stroll through the seaside villa of Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild, and explore the botanical gardens of Jardin Botanique d’Èze. Don’t miss out on visiting Cannes and St. Tropez, two of the region’s most popular cities. Take it easy in the lesser known Languedoc-Roussillon region. Few coastlines are as iconic as the Amalfi Coast, located just south of Naples. From Positano to Sorrento to Amalfi itself, there are countless charming cities to explore along the coastline. This Scandinavian city is finally beginning to warm up after a long winter. June brings concerts, festivals, and open-air food halls to the city. The shops are open, the parks are in bloom, and the sun barely sets on those lazy summer days! Visit the many islands along Stockholm’s archipelago, such as Djurgarden and Riddarholmen. See what old town Stockholm is like in Gamla Stan before reliving the 70s at the ABBA Museum. Enjoy the warm summer air at Skansen, an open-air Swedish history museum, complete with a Nordic zoo! Don’t miss out on Stockholm’s palaces, such as Drottningholm Palace and the Baroque-style Stockholm Palace.

St. Petersburg in June offers a few weeks where the sun never sets. Enjoy those long summer days at the city’s many festivities, operas, and ballets! Visit the famed Winter Palace, St. Isaac’s Cathedral, and Church of the Savior on Blood. Take a stop by the Peter and Paul Fortress, which contains a cathedral of its own and a museum of the city’s origins! Marvel at the awe-inspiring Russian paintings and sculptures at the Russian Museum before you go.
6. Beijing, China
Beijing is Travel + Leisure’s cheapest international destination for June. There are no Chinese holidays this month, so local travel will be low for the time being. Between lessened crowds and mild weather, there’s no better time to visit this historic and bustling city! Hike across the Great Wall of China and take a moment to stand in awe at this legendary structure. You have to visit the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square while you’re in town. Don’t miss out on the Temple of Heaven, the Summer Palace, and Yonghe Temple. You won’t be let down with all of this classic Chinese architecture!
7. Bangkok, Thailand
Bangkok is one of the liveliest cities in the world. If you’re a foodie, you’ll go crazy for all of the delicious Asian fusion cuisine options around the city! Between art galleries, aromatherapy spas, and a bustling nightlife, you will never be bored in this city. Some must-see architecture to visit is the House on Sathorn and the Grand Palace. Be sure to visit the beautiful Buddhist temples of Wat Arun and Wat Phra Kaew. Get the full Thailand experience by traveling further south. Go snorkeling off the Phi Phi Islands and play with elephants at Khao Sok National Park!

8. Kaua’i, Hawaii
Kaua’i is one of the lushest of all the Hawaiian islands. June is the best time to visit this tropical island, with lower rates, great temperatures, and calm surf. Visit Na Pali Coast State Park for hiking, camping, and gorgeous waterfalls. Take a trip to Waimea Canyon State Park, known as the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific.” Be sure to check out Wailua Falls and Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge before you leave. Of course, you have to soak up the sun while in Hawaii! Lounge on the gorgeous beaches of Polihale State Park, Poipu Beach Park, and Mahaulepu Beach. Aloha!
9. Rocky Mountain National Park
June is the perfect time for backpackers, hikers, and families alike to visit this magical national park. June brings life to this park, with tree buds opened, wildflowers blooming, and birds and butterflies galore! The Rocky Mountains are the perfect place to spot wildlife indigenous to the area, such as elk, sheep, and moose. Nearby Estes Park is the perfect spot to rent a cabin to stay during your visit. Alternatively, you might want to consider RV Rental instead of staying in a cabin. Wherever you choose to stay, you’ll certainly have plenty of options. Take advantage of this magnificent, sprawling national park without even leaving the country!
10. Great Barrier Reef, Australia
Last but not least, give the Great Barrier Reef a visit! June offers great visibility to see the vibrantly colorful coral. Make sure to scuba dive or go on a snorkeling cruise so as to not miss out! You can stay in the city of Cairns, and there’s plenty to do in the city as well! Go hot air ballooning to admire the scenery from above and relax on one of Cairns’s many beaches. Marvel at the Daintree Rainforest from either the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway or the Kuranda Scenic Railway.
